More on AEW Collision Viewership for April 12th
The April 12th episode of AEW Collision saw AEW gain a very large increase in overall viewership, a large increase in key demographic ranki, and a small increase in key demographic ratings.
AEW drew 455,000 viewers and a 0.12 key demographic rating on TNT. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was #9 place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to a combination of the weaker than usual sports competition, the stronger than usual lead-in programming, and the large increase from their overall key demographic viewership group, which was up 44.2% compared to the prior week’s show. Of AEW’s key demographic viewership increase, their younger key demographic viewership group was up 22.2% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the small decline from their older female key demographic viewership group, which was down 2.5% compared to the prior week’s show. Meltzer reported that the viewership on MAX for the show is currently not known.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the UFC 314 Prelims drew 1,028,000 viewers on ESPN, the 2025 NCAA Men’s Hockey Tournament game of Boston University vs. Western Michigan drew 594,000 viewers on ESPN2, the MLB simulcast games of Los Angeles Angels vs. Houston and Milwaukee vs. Arizona drew 241,000 viewers on MLB Network, and On Patrol Live drew 554,000 viewers on REELZ Channel.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 163,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 15,000 viewers (up 25%), Females 18-34 had 18,000 viewers (up 20%), Males 35-49 had 91,000 viewers (up 97.8%), and Females 35-49 had 39,000 viewers (down 2.5%). Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 65% in favor of males.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 2.6% in overall viewership and down 5.8% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 key demographic viewership was down 5.7% compared to the same week last year. Meltzer also reported that one main reason for the declines is due to the unknown key demographic viewership migration on MAX compared to last year’s show.
