More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for May 28th

The May 28th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a large increase in overall viewership and a slight increase in key demographic ratings and key demographic rankings.

AEW drew 636,000 viewers and a 0.16 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was #12 place.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for AEW’s increases this week was due to the increases from their Over 50 demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given, and their younger female key demographic viewership and older male key demographic viewership groups, which were up 65% and 30.8% respectively compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the declines from their younger male key demographic viewership and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were down 2.2% and 21.3% respectively compared to last week’s show. This reportedly also offset the weaker than usual first quarter hour viewership due to AEW’s lead-in viewership being lower than usual. Meltzer reported that the viewership on MAX for the show is currently not known. Meltzer also reported that AEW’s lead-in programming Big Bang Theory drew 721,000 viewers and a 0.12 rating.

In terms of head-to-head competition, the 2025 NBA Playoffs Game 5 of Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Oklahoma City Thunder drew 4,624,000 viewers on ESPN, the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 5 of Florida Panthers vs. Carolina Hurricanes drew 1,427,000 viewers on TNT and 175,000 viewers on truTV, the WNBA game of Indiana Fever at Washington Mystics drew 357,000 viewers on NBA TV, Dr. Pimple Popper drew 422,000 viewers on TLC, Implosion: The Titanic Sub Disaster drew 638,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, and Summer House drew 489,000 viewers on BRAVO.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 213,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 45,000 viewers (down 2.2%), Females 18-34 had 33,000 viewers (up 65%), Males 35-49 had 102,000 viewers (up 30.8%), and Females 35-49 had 37,000 viewers (down 21.3%). Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/female viewership split was 69% in favor of males.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 19.2% in overall viewership and down 36.4% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 key demographic viewership was down 30.4% compared to the same week last year. Meltzer also reported that one main reason for the large declines is due to the unknown key demographic viewership migration on MAX compared to last year’s show.
