WWE SmackDown Notes: Damian Priest vs. LA Knight vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu for WWE U.S. Title Set for Backlash 2025, WWE Women’s #1 Contender Match & More Set for 5/9 Show Card

Damian Priest vs. LA Knight vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu for WWE U.S. Title Announced for WWE Backlash 2025

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa featured the first of two new matches announced for the card of WWE Backlash 2025, which takes place on May 10th at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

This new match announced was a WWE United States Championship Fatal Four-way match of Damian Priest vs. LA Knight vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu (c).

This match was initially setup over recent weeks shows over the bad blood issues between Priest, Knight, McIntyre, and The Bloodline’s Fatu & Solo Sikoa. During tonight’s show, SmackDown GM was seen backstage with Sikoa and Fatu and was upset over them causing another match to get thrown out for another week in a row. Aldis then announced that because of their actions tonight towards Priest and Knight, Fatu will be defending his U.S. title against them at Backlash. This led to Sikoa interrupting and brought up how that made sense to give Priest and Knight a title shot when McIntyre won the #1 Contender’s match last week. Aldis responded stating that Sikoa made a good point and announced that Fatu will now be defending his title in a Fatal Four-way match instead. This led to Fatu giving a dirty look to Siko over what he just did and stated that he had no problem against all of them. Fatu then left leading to Sikoa trying to blame Aldis for screwing over Fatu and Aldis responding back stating that it was Sikoa who was the one who was screwing Fatu over.

Current card for WWE Backlash 2025:

  • Undisputed WWE Championship – Randy Orton vs. John Cena (c)
  • WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship – Becky Lynch vs. Lyra Valkyria (c)
  • WWE United States Championship Fatal Four-way match – Damian Priest vs. LA Knight vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu (c)
  • Pat McAfee vs. Gunther

In regards to notable matches, one new notable match announced was a WWE Women’s Championship #1 Contender match of Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax.

This match was setup over recent weeks shows over the bad blood issues between Jax, Naomi, Stratton, and Cargill.
