More on The Beast Mortos Replacing Claudio Castagnoli at AEW Grand Slam Mexico Show

As noted before, AEW CEO Tony Khan had met with CMLL CEO Salvador Luttheroth Lomeli to request for The Beast Mortos be allowed to compete at this past Wednesday’s AEW Grand Slam Mexico show despite CMLL’s rules banning Mortos from competing at their venue or at shows with CMLL talents.

TheCubsFan reported that the reason for CMLL’s bad blood issues with Mortos was due to them not looking kindly on him after he almost immediately jumped to Lucha Libre AAA. It was reported that Mortos and Mortiz “did a secret tryout match under other identities with AAA prior to jumping while they were still doing CMLL dates.”

It was also reported that Mortos did not enjoy his time in CMLL and had no interest in going back there after leaving the company.

In regards to Mortos being allowed to compete at AEW’s show at the Arena Mexico, it was reported that Mortos was in Mexico for AEW’s show and they needed a replacement for the main event match. AEW and CMLL parties reportedly were able to work out their issues to allow Mortos to compete on the show.

Eddie Kingston Broken Leg Injury Status Update – Kingston Says There’s “Business Stuff” He Needs to Get Done First Before He Can Make In-Ring for AEW

As noted before, Eddie Kingston has been out of action for AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling since May of 2024 due to a broken leg, torn ACL, and torn meniscus injuries and surgery.

In a recent new training vlog released by former AEW talent Cezar Bononi, Kingston provided an update stating that he needs to take care of some business matters first before he can return to the ring for AEW.

“Good. It feels fine… They’re trying to rush me back in the ring — training — which is fine. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’ve been running and stuff like that in the ring. It’s fine. It’s just that it’s business stuff, that I need to get done before I even think about doing anything in the ring for the company, you know what I mean? It’s a lot of business stuff.”
