This past weekend featured the United States bombing three nuclear sites located in Iran. This bombing was part of an escalation between the two sides over issues with failed talks to get Iran to drop its nuclear program over concerns of them building a nuclear weapon. This bombing was also in response to Israel’s recent bombings of Iran in relation to this issue. In response to the bombings, Iran has vowed to do “everlasting consequences” to the United States.
In regards to the situation of WWE holding their Night of Champions 2025 event on June 28th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Fightful Select reported that one high level WWE officials stated that the situation in the Middle East was being monitored accordingly.
It was reported that WWE talent are currently set to travel out mid-week via a charter plane to Riyadh. It was also reported that had WWE only had Night of Champions for this weekend, then it would have been a very small flight due to only ten wrestlers are slated to compete on the show as of Sunday. Instead, WWE will be flying in more talent due to a three-hour SmackDown scheduled to take place the night before in the city.
Those spoken involved with the event in Saudi Arabia reportedly are preparing as if the event is happening. One source spoken to reportedly stated it was “full steam ahead” as of Sunday afternoon local time. This same source reportedly also stated that they did not believe the event would be postponed or canceled due to there was too much money at stake with the upcoming Royal Rumble 2026 event being there. This same source reportedly also stated that “Saudi is one of the safest places in the world” in regards to the current situation. Another source reportedly stated that they believe that WWE would be made assurances of said safety for everyone involved with the event.
In regards to the venue, it was reported that the event is on full build mode as of Sunday and fan events in Riyadh are planned to be announced soon.
