A recent episode of the K/100 with Konnan & Disco podcast featured co-host Konnan giving his thoughts about Corey Graves helping him on commentary during WWE’s Worlds Collide event and Jeremy Borash being incredible to work with.
“Let me just put it to you this way and this is the way it should’ve been. He was afraid not to be prepared. So he was very prepared. He’s very professional… You know his brother’s Sam Adonis, right? And so he talked to his brother who’s been in Mexico at least 10 years now.
Corey (Graves) was great… Yeah, he had copious notes and then I just helped him on a couple things, pronunciations… I was thinking, he keeps saying this name wrong and I’m gonna nail him on the air for doing it but he was so cool, I didn’t… The girl’s name is Dalys and he was going ‘Daleese…’
Jeremy (Borash) was incredible because he’s on top of everything and he’s making sure our sh*t’s cool and the matches are cool and you know, he made me feel comfortable. He was great. Corey was great. I couldn’t have had a better partner and he took care of me, let me put it to you that way. I hadn’t done this in over 10 years or so and I think I put too much pressure on myself and I thought that I wasn’t at my best. But if we do this again — everybody said they liked it — but anyways, I didn’t. But if we do this again, I will definitely bring in a better game.”
Konnan also gave his thoughts about his talk with WWE President Nick Khan after the Worlds Collide event.
“When I spoke — and I spoke to him briefly, to Nick Khan — yes, I’m a Nick Khan guy. I said, ‘I think we hit a home run,’ and he said, ‘No, we hit a grand slam.’ So that’s the President. They’re happy, bro.”
Konnan also gave his thoughts about WWE’s endgame for AAA is to get the company a television deal in the United States.
“You gotta understand, bro, and this is just common sense. You don’t have to be in meetings to know this. Big project can fall apart like that, for whatever reason. We had a lot of bad luck getting here, but we’re finally here, and their endgame is to get us a TV deal and if that happens, sh*t’s on. But all I’ve been doing is advocating lucha, advocating lucha, advocating lucha, and you see what happened. This is just the beginning. They’re really invested. Bro, you know that guy Mr. Iguana? They already made a T-shirt, because I talked to him today and it’s the fifth best-selling T-shirt. A guy that came on TV once… Yeah, they are (going to be selling iguana hand puppets).”
