As noted before, WWE announced this past April that they signed an acquisition deal for Lucha Libre AAA. WWE’s purchase of AAA became official this past August.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that the new creative structure within AAA following WWE’s acquisition of the company is WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque being at the top.
Meltzer reported that AAA’s current main creative team helping out Levesque is Jeremy Borash, Mark Calaway (The Undertaker), Charles Ashenoff (Konnan), and AAA executive Dorian Roldan.
In regards to WWE SVP of NXT and Talent Relations Shawn Michaels, Meltzer reported that those spoken to stated that while there is some creative input from Michaels to Levesque, he’s not really involved due to him being heavily invested in NXT instead. Michaels reportedly has attended some AAA shows backstage since WWE’s acquisition deal announcement.
In regards to the key producers for AAA, Meltzer reported that the key producers in charge are now Matt Bloom, Pete Dunne, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Jack Melendez (Moody Jack), Juan Rivera (Savio Vega), and Jose Cordero (Lince Dorado). Meltzer also reported that there is one other key producer who’s name he currently does not know.
Meltzer also reported that WWE officials currently have plans to launch new Lucha podcasts for AAA.
