Candice LeRae Advances in WWE Speed Women’s Title #1 Contender Tournament

Tuesday’s WWE NXT show at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida featured the start of WWE’s newest WWE Speed Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s tournament and one tournament match.

This was Candice LeRae defeating Xia Brookside.

As a result of her victory, LeRae will be facing off against the winner of Lainey Reid/Faby Apache in the Finals of the WWE Speed Women’s Championship #1 Contender tournament.

DIY Makes Surprise Return Appearance & Use Old Theme Song on Tuesday’s WWE NXT Show

Tuesday’s WWE NXT show also featured DIY (Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano) making a surprise return appearance to the NXT brand. DIY’s return was notable for featuring them coming out to their former entrance theme song they used during their time in NXT.

During the show, TNA World Champion Trick Williams came out to the ring. Williams talked about him being the hottest and greatest NXT superstar who has ever lived.  After some more words claiming that the past greats in NXT no longer care about NXT and the hard work that was done by everyone over the past three or four years, Williams stated that he doesn’t blame them one bit. Williams stated that as soon as he moves to RAW and Smackdown and he gets his big contract and home in the suburbs, you are never going to see him again. After some more words by Williams, DIY’s music played to interrupt and Ciampa and Gargano making their surprise return.

Gargano stated that they had heard about NXT Homecoming but they wanted to stop by early because today is the tenth anniversary of their NXT debut. Gargano stated we have the greatest superstar in NXT history in the ring.  Ciampa responded stating of all of the champions and future hall of famers, none are better than Trick Williams. Gargano and Ciampa then talk about how they have won the same amount of NXT and NXT North American titles as Trick but Trick is a TNA Champion and they are not.

After some more banter by Gargano and Ciampa, Ciampa stated they were the two guys who defined an era of NXT and two people who bled black and gold. Ciampa then stated that it was two men who paved the way for where you are today … DIY.

Williams responded talking about how DIY did all these great things and then in came Trick to kick your accolades back to Medieval Times.  Williams stated he is still carrying Melo and still the greatest of all time. This led to a brawl breaking out that ended with DIY laying out Williams.

Joe Hendry Makes Surprise Appearance After His Name Was Mentioned

Tuesday’s WWE NXT show also featured TNA talent Joe Hendry making a surprise appearance.

During the Eight-Man Tag Team match between Ricky Saints, Oba Femi, & Hank & Tank (Hank Walker & Tank Ledger) and DarkState (Dion Lennox, Osiris Griffin, Saquon Shugars, & Cutler James), Saints and Femi brawled on the outside and made their way to the back. This led to Hank & Tank being left with the man disadvantage against DarkState and DarkState getting the upperhand for a while. As James grabbed Hank by the throat preparing to finish him off, Hank yelled out “Joe Hendry” which led to Hendry’s music playing and him showing up at ringside. This led to James being distracted long enough for Hank & Tank to hit their double team finisher for the pinfall victory.

Following the match, Hendry celebrated in the ring with Hank & Tank.
