As noted before, WWE released nine talents from their developmental system affecting their NXT, WWE EVOLVE, WWE LFG, and WWE ID brands. Besides those nine talents, WWE ID and EVOLVE talents Kylie Rae and Zayda Steel were also released from the company this past Thursday.
The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported on Twitter that his sources stated that the recent round of talent cuts in WWE was not due to any budgetary-related reason and instead simply a decision by WWE officials to open up free spots on their roster for future talent hires.
Alvarez reported that WWE currently has over 130 people in their developmental system and hire more talent on a regular basis. Alvarez also reported that WWE officials currently feel that if a talent is not progressing fast enough or if they feel that a talent doesn’t have what it takes for the main roster, then that talent will get released to make room for someone new.
Alvarez also reported that more talent cuts could be coming next week.
“WWE cuts were not budget related, they have over 130 people in developmental and hire more regularly. If you’re not progressing fast enough or they feel you don’t have what it takes for main roster, you’re out to make room for someone new. Possible more cuts coming next week.”
