As noted before, Sunday’s Rumble in the Burt event for Winnipeg Professional Wrestling in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada featured Mercedes Mone defeating Jody Threat to become the new WPW Women’s Champion. This was Mone’s 12th women’s championship she currently holds.
In response to a recent tweet from a person on Twitter who criticized comments from the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer about Mone holding all of these titles helps to elevate each single one of them, the official account for WPW responded stating the benefits that Mone brought to their promotion for her appearance.
“Hey there I’m the one that booked her, picked her up from the airport and was with her all day. I’m the one that sees the ticket sales and budgets, I’m the one that saw kids crying and shaking when they met her. Hope this helps.”

The promotion announced that they drew an attendance of 1,600 for the event at the Burton Cummings Theatre, breaking the previous all-time attendance record for the company at the venue.
Post Wrestling held a recent interview with WPW co-promoter Devin Bray. One of the topics discussed included Bray’s thoughts about the impact Mone’s involvement had on their event and the company as a whole.
“Obviously, Mercedes has added a lot of prestige and excitement. We attracted, I’d say, a couple of hundred more people who didn’t know we existed who live here and are wrestling fans. So it just took us to a whole new level.”
Bray also gave his thoughts about how quickly Mone’s booking for the event came for the company.
“I saw she tweeted a couple of months ago, ‘I want to go to Canada’ or something. I was like, f***, if she’s saying that, I’ll just shoot my shot.”
