Jim Ross has been absent from AEW since this past August’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 event. Ross has been dealing with several health-related issues over the past year limiting his commentary appearances for AEW. During his current time away, Ross was named by D-Von Dudley as being the WWE higher up who was racist towards him during his time in the company during the Attitude Era.
A recent episode of the Grilling JR podcast featured co-host Ross providing an update on his current health status.
“I feel good about being home. Feel healthier than I felt in a long time. I’ve got plenty of energy, and I’m thankful to be back on the air.”
Ross also gave his thoughts about him currently planning to be able to make his return to AEW for his commentary work in the next few weeks.
“Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. That’s the plan. In the next few weeks. So, yeah, I’m excited about that opportunity.”
Ross also gave his thoughts about how he did not know what the outcome would be during his battle with colon cancer but he is now looking forwards to the future after being declared cancer-free after his surgery for it earlier this year.
“A few months ago at this time, I wasn’t so sure about the outcome. But here I am, and here we are. And we’re going to have a great, great year of podcasting. I can promise you.”
