As noted before, Andrade El Idolo has been absent from AEW since this past October due to issues over him currently being under a non-compete clause with WWE after his firing from the company this past September. This non-compete clause is currently believed to be for one year in length over WWE’s claims that he breached his contract from his firing. Andrade was believed to be involved in an incident earlier this month at The Crash Lucha Libre’s XIV Anniversario event in Tijuana, Mexico involving him leaving early after being angry over an undisclosed issue. It was not known at the time if this incident was related to his non-compete situation with WWE.
A recent episode of the Talk’N Shop podcast featured co-host Karl Anderson denying the report and rumors of Andrade leaving The Crash’s event early and instead stated that he was with Andrade backstage and Andrade was in a good and happy mood throughout the entire show.
“There were reports that Andrade, the Crash Lucha Libre Champion, was there and left in a heap, was angry, got in trouble, and left. I am here to say that I was there with Andrade, side by side with him, doing the signing. Andrade was right beside me and the Big LG. (Andrade is a) friend of mine. Known him for a long time. There were reports that he left and was angry. Not true. Signing was finished. He went backstage, we went backstage. He watched us win the Crash Lucha Libre Tag Team Championships. He watched the whole show. We left before Andrade left. As soon as our match was finished, which was the semi-main event. Andrade did not leave in a heap or leave angry or in trouble or mad. He was there the whole show. He was backstage laughing with people, talking with people, and even hugged us after we won the Tag Team Championships.
Andrade story was bullshit. If anyone wants to dispute me on that, I was there. Boots on the ground, I watched it. Andrade’s face was smiling and happy. He was fine. No heat, no issues.”
While Andrade did not wrestle at the event, he did participate in a fan meet & greet event prior to the start of the show.
