Update:
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources confirmed thet the belief from many within WWE was that Andrade El Idolo did not have a 90-days non-compete clause due to him being outright cut from the company.
Johnson reported that WWE had informed Andrade after he had made several appearances that his 90 day period was still in effect despite he would not be getting paid for it. One source within WWE reportedly stated that this had to be enforced for Andrade because they wouldn’t allow someone to be fired and then immediately perform somewhere else.
As noted before, Andrade El Idolo made his surprise return to AEW at the AEW Dynamite 6th Anniversary show earlier this month. Andrade attacked Kenny Omega and was revealed as the newest member of the Don Callis Family. Since then, Andrade has been noticeably absent from AEW.
The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported that his sources stated that the reason for Andrade’s current abscense from AEW is not due to any injury-related issue and instead WWE had recently sent a letter to AEW regarding his non-compete clause status.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that Andrade’s current situation is “very weird” and those spoken to within WWE had thought he did not have a non-compete clause as part of the terms of his release.
Andrade had been cut from WWE this past September due to issues over him having at least one wellness policy violation during his second run with the company.
