As noted before, Adam Copeland has been absent from AEW since this past September after Copeland told Christian Cage that he was going away for family-related reasons and he was not sure if he would be coming back. This led to online rumors that were later debunked of Copeland leaving AEW and returning to WWE for a potential last match with John Cena for Cena’s retirement tour.
A recent episode of The Ariel Helwani Show featured AEW CEO Tony Khan as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Khan denying the recent rumors of Adam Copeland going back to WWE for Cena’s retirement tour and stated that WWE never reached out to him nor AEW regarding the potential of Copeland being part of Cena’s retirement tour.
“No. Adam is going to be with us through the end of the year. He is a huge part of AEW and I have so much respect for him and I really like Adam a lot. I’m glad to have him here. He’s away filming, but he’s with us and he’s going to stay with us.”
