As noted before, Chris Jericho’s contract with AEW is currently set to expire by the end of 2025 and he has been absent from the company since this past April. During his time away, Jericho had reached out to WWE about a potential return to the company once his contract with AEW expires. WWE recently offered Jericho a retirement storyline if he were to return to their company.
Chris Jericho held a Christmas Dinner with the Winnipeggers live stream on his official YouTube channel on Saturday that took place during the same time as AEW’s Worlds End event that night. In response to a fan question about them being hopeful Jericho would return to WWE, Jericho responded stating “You never know. You never know.“
In regards to Jericho’s AEW contract status, Wrestling Intel’s Alex McCarthy reported that his sources stated that Jericho’s contract with AEW is currently set to expire at midnight on December 31st. Those spoken to reportedly stated that WWE is currently considering having Jericho’s return take place at next week’s WWE RAW’s Netflix anniversary show on January 5th instead of at next month’s Royal Rumble event.
Sports Illustrated’s Jon Alba reported that his sources confirmed McCarthy’s reported and the current belief is that Jericho is going to show up on WWE television “very soon.”
