Gunther Comments on How He “Hated” John Cena When Watching WWE as a Fan

A recent episode of ESPN’s First Take show featured Gunther as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Gunther’s thoughts about how he “hated” watching John Cena when he would watch WWE as a fan growing up.

“I mean, I can only speak for myself. And I haven’t really — I shook hands twice with him, I didn’t really have any interactions with him otherwise. I just remember when I started wrestling, like 20 years ago now, I remember that I hated that guy in jorts on that TV week by week. And I always thought it doesn’t belong in the ring.

So I’m a big purist, I’m a big traditionalist. And I said it on Monday, John Cena’s definitely the greatest sports entertainer of all time. But I’m the greatest professional wrestler there is right now, so that’s going to be the conflict.”

Gunther also gave his thoughts about if there are any names from the past that he wishes could compete in today’s WWE.

“I think Kurt Angle would be great if he would still be here, always somebody that I really enjoyed watching. Or somebody like Eddie Guerrero. I think those would be guys that come to mind that would be great to have around right now.”

Joe Hendry on His Decision to Sign with WWE

As noted before, former TNA talent Joe Hendry signed an official contract with WWE this past November.

A recent episode of the No-Contest Wrestling podcast featured Hendry as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Hendry’s thoughts about his decision to sign with WWE and his reason why he wanted to work for WWE’s NXT brand.

“Right now I am obsessed with getting better at wrestling, and trying to be the absolute best professional wrestler that I can be.

That is, for me, the primary reason why I chose to come to NXT, was to evolve as a wrestler. Because I really feel I can take this all the way, and the Performance Center has the tools for me to do that. I am obsessed with getting better, so I actually find it super hard to switch off from the wrestling business and relax.”

Timothée Chalamet Comments on Triple H Told Him “It’s Basically Impossible To Make Money At Hammerstein” For Why WWE Doesn’t Run Shows There

A recent episode of the What Do You Wanna Talk About? with Cody Rhodes podcast featured actor Timothée Chalamet as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Chalament’s thoughts about a recent talk he had with WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque about why WWE doesn’t run any of their shows at the legendary Hammertsein Ballroom venue.

“I want to see a show at Hammerstein. I talked to Triple H and he said, ‘It’s basically impossible to make money there.’ He said there is one elevator you have to load everything in and out of.”

Host Cody Rhodes responded agreeing with Levesque’s comments and gave his thoughts about his issues with the venue for wrestling shows.

“He’s right, and I appreciate that he gave you logistics. At least he was thinking about it. The other thing is, it’s the worst back of house ever. God Bless Manhattan Center. It’s open windows, freezing, there s no room for anything, but there is a hidden little gem to Hammerstein, wrestling in there, other than the fans being right on top of you. At the end of the night, you can walk out front and they are all there and it’s a fun moment. There’s a little side door, and I’d always wait a little while, and I would go out the little side door. I always look for it at Hammerstein.”

WWE last ran a show at the Hammerstein Ballroom in 2006.
