Bryan Danielson Comments on His Criticisms of His AEW Commentary Work Being “Rotten”

The Undisputed’s Justin Barrasso held a recent interview with Bryan Danielson. One of the topics discussed included Danielson’s thoughts about his belief of his quality of work on AEW commentary being mostly “rotten.”

“A lot of times, I still think I’m rotten. It’s hard to gauge the show in terms of what worked and didn’t when I’m doing commentary. I do the show and then I watch it back, and I’m getting advice from a lot of talented people.

In a sense, doing commentary, it is like wrestling. There is an exhilaration to it. I love whenever I get the chance to work with Excalibur, Taz, or Tony Schiavone. The whole experience, it’s fun. So I enjoy the feeling of doing it. Then I go and rewatch and listen, which is similar to what I did as a wrestler. I’m not where I want to be. I’m also giving myself some grace–almost everyone else in that position has been trained and I’m winging it.”

New Trademark For Potential New Event

AEW filed a new trademark for “Exile On Pain St.” on January 8th for wrestling and entertainment-related purposes to the United States Patent and Trademark office.

AEW’s current plans for this new trademark are currently not known but it could potentially be for a new AEW event in the future.

Portion of trademark filing:

Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services in the nature of live professional wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of professional wrestling programs and events; Entertainment services in the nature of a television series in the field of professional wrestling; Entertainment services, namely, production and distribution of ongoing television programs in the field of professional wrestling

Jim Ross Comments on His Belief Chris Jericho Leaving AEW Would “Hurt The Brand To A Degree”

As noted before, Chris Jericho’s contract with AEW was believed to have expired at the end of 2025 and he has been absent from the company since this past April. Jericho has been rumored to be returning to WWE soon.

A recent episode of the Grilling JR podcast featured co-host and AEW commentator Jim Ross giving his thoughts about his belief that Jericho’s potential departure from AEW would hurt AEW’s brand to a degree.

“He’s such a valuable member to AEW. Him leaving would hurt the brand to a degree. No doubt. You can’t lose a talent like Chris Jericho and say that, ‘Oh well, we’ll just move on, it doesn’t matter. We got other guys that are ready to step up,’ and I hope that’s true. But, bottom line of it is that he’s got options, and that’s a smart guy.”
