Will Ospreay Provides Neck Injury Update at 1/5 NJPW New Year Dash 2026 Event

As noted before, Will Ospreay has been out of action for AEW since this past August’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 event due to a neck injury and surgery.

Monday’s NJPW New Year Dash 2026 event in Tokyo, Japan featured Ospreay making a surprise appearance and reuniting with the United Empire. During his speech to the group, Ospreay provided an update on his recovery from his neck injury.

Ospreay stated that he is still yet to be medically cleared from his neck injury but once he does and also handles some business in AEW, he will be coming back to NJPW for shows and to help out Callum Newman and the United Empire.

“I can’t come back right now. I still need to recover. It’s going to take me a long time, but I’m getting closer and closer. I’m getting better and better — and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. When I’m good to go, I’m going to handle some business in AEW. I’m going to come back to New Japan Pro Wrestling.”

Kevin Knight Comments on AEW Tag Titles Being In Sight for JetSpeed

“Speedball” Mike Bailey recently released a new vlog on his official YouTube channel. One of the guests was Bailey’s tag team partner Kevin Knight who discussed JetSpeed’s goal of winning the AEW World Tag Team Championship being in sight for them.

“We’re turning it up another notch. A few notches, in fact, because gold is in sight. Gold is in sight. Apparently there’s a bounty on our head or something. So that’s nothing for us because we’re always wanted in some type of demand in any type of way. So we’re here to step up to the challenge.”

AEW Files New Continental Classic Trademarks

AEW filed new trademarks for “C2” and “Continental Classic” on January 2nd for wrestling and entertainment-related purposes to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Continental Classic is the name of AEW’s yearly tournament held in December and C2 is the official nickname given by AEW for the tournament.
