Tony Khan on How Final AEW Dynamite Episode of 2019 Led To A “Very Important Period Of Reflection” & Hangman Page and Will Ospreay Being Very Supportive of The Other for Their Match at AEW Double or Nothing 2025

Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown on SI held a recent interview with AEW CEO Tony Khan. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts about how the final AEW Dynamite episode of 2019 led to him having a very important period of reflection and led to changes made to the show and AEW itself for the better.

“I didn’t like the chaos at the end of the episode in Corpus Christi on December 18, 2019. I felt like we could’ve put a better show together. I remember we got there with a lot of people who had good ideas. I tried to take every idea and use them all and then it led to the ending of an episode that people in 2019 didn’t receive well. It was probably, in a crazy way, a blessing that we had the following week off and that we didn’t tape a show for Christmas. There were no shows, it was the last week where there was no AEW TV. So, from December 18 to January 1 of 2020, there were no shows and it was a very important period of reflection. I felt like we came out of it for the better.”

Khan also gave his thoughts about how both Hangman Adam Page and Will Ospreay were very supportive of the other in regards to their Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament Finals match at AEW Double or Nothing 2025.

“Without getting into it, both of them were very supportive of the other one, which I thought was incredible to see two guys that were both making a case for why the other one is so amazing. It goes to speak for how amazing both of them are as people and wrestlers. I’m so blessed and I feel very fortunate, everybody in AEW is really fortunate to have both Hangman Page and Will Ospreay in AEW.”
