Drew McIntyre Comments on Him & CM Punk Being Top Champions in WWE & Punk Holding The “Second Best Title”
The Sun held a recent interview with Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. One of the topics discussed included McIntyre’s thoughts about him and CM Punk being top champions at the same time in WWE.
“I don’t care what’s going on over on Raw. I don’t care what’s going on in his life. Good for him, he won the second-best title. Second-best champion. Anybody who has titles, this is the number one belt. I used to have it; it’s the one with all the lineage. So anybody else who has any other title, it doesn’t mean jack compared to this. As long as I’ve got this title, it means one thing, I’m the best in the world.”
In a separate recent interview with TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast, McIntyre gave his thoughts about the crowd reaction to his Undisputed WWE title victory and if anyone took it too far at a show.
“There was one incident at a show last week. Somebody won a raffle to meet a superstar backstage and they asked me to do. I said, ‘Are you sure? Cody is on the show.’ He’s the big good guy, I’m kind of controversial in the middle guy. ‘No, no, no, everyone wants to see you.’ The guy came back and lunged at me saying, ‘That’s Cody’s title.’ Swung at me. Security had to get between us. I calmed him down. We got a picture together, a picture with the title. He was genuinely upset. It was great. Because I knew he was legitimately upset, as soon as we took the picture, he started mouthing off again, so I stepped back, moved the security guard between us, raised the title, laughed, and ran off like a child.
I want fans like that. They are passionate.”

Backstage Update on Concussion Injuries Suffered at WWE Tryouts This Month
As noted before, WWE tryout attendee Sallie Grace revealed on Instagram that she had suffered a concussion injury during WWE’s tryouts at their Performance Center earlier this month. Grace also claimed that several other attendees also had suffered concussion injuries during the tryouts.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources within WWE confirmed Grace’s claims about multiple attendees had suffered concussion injuries during WWE’s talent tryouts earlier this month.
Meltzer reported that WWE officials very likely are not happy with Grace going public with the issue. Meltzer also reported that WWE had to expect that something like this would happen when they recruited people from influencer and social media backgrounds since they usually would be the ones who would tell stories publicly in detail about what happens at the tryouts.
