Street Profits WWE Abscense Update
The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) have been absent from WWE since this past October for unknown reasons.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that the reason for Dawkins and Ford’s current abscense is not due to any injury-related issues. Meltzer reported that WWE officials had simply made the decision to take the Street Profits off of WWE television to allow them to freshen up as a team.
The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported that his sources stated that the Street Profits are currently expected to return soon. Alvarez reported that Dawkins and Ford have been training with Natalya and TJ Wilson at their Dungeon 2.0 wrestling school in Florida during their time away from WWE.
“Street Profits have been training with Nattie and TJ and should be back imminently.”
WWE Tryout Attendee Suffered Concussion Injury at WWE’s Tryouts This Week
As noted before, WWE was set to hold new talent tryouts at their Performance Center in Orlando, Florida this week.
Social media influencer and WWE tryout attendee Sallie Grace provided an update on Instagram stating that her tryout was cut short due to her suffering a concussion injury during an improv drill.
“We were doing improv and they told us to pretend swimming. Bro, I think I sound so stupid right now. I got hit in the head because someone was on the metal ropes and were swinging it and swung it and it hit the back of my head really hard. I can’t even keep my train of thought. And I feel stupid because I don’t remember what I’m saying. I forgot who I’m talking to earlier. This morning, I had a headache when I walked into the Performance Center and I knew something wasn’t right. We started taking bumps for the first time and I just felt my brain sloshing around and I’m like, ‘I cant continue this or else, you know, there will be long-term effects.’ I got tested, and I have a concussion.
One medic said, ‘All right, now go talk to the first medic that you talked to.’ I’m like, ‘First medic? I’ve only talked to you.’ And I completely forgot I had a conversation with that dude. I was packing up my bags to leave and I was just sitting there for 10 minutes with my mind blank, like, crying because I didn’t remember what I had brought to the gym. And then I got in the elevator to the hotel and I was up on not the first floor and I was in the elevator and I pressed the first floor thinking I was going to go up, and I just wasn’t going up. So my brain is so out of it right now. This is day three of five. A couple of people have gotten concussed — and one of those couple people were me. I’m just pretty bummed right now, but I’ll keep you guys updated. I hope that made sense. I am so out of it.”

Chelsea Green Comments on Criticisms of WWE Unreal Series
Denise Salcedo held a recent interview with Chelsea Green. One of the topics discussed included Green’s thoughts about the criticism of the format of WWE’s WWE Unreal docuseries over it pulling back too much of the curtain on the pro wrestling industry.
“I just feel like wrestling is basically the longest soap opera known to mankind. Why would you not want to peel back the curtain and watch how the longest episodic television show is made? I don’t understand. Total Divas was one of the best shows on E! So, the proof is in the pudding, we do like when the curtain is pulled back, we do like an inside look.
I think it’s just this funny balance of people wanting to protect the business, but we’ve got to progress forward, and unscripted reality TV is progressing forward, pulling the curtain back is pressing forward. Showing, especially the entertainment industry that we belong, because I think we’ve been the black sheep. Sports doesn’t want to claim us, you see that we’re not necessarily at the forefront of the Espys or things like that, right? We’re not really in Sports Illustrated all the time, and then Hollywood is like, ‘Yeah, you’re not a TV show, you’re not real actors, we’re not going to have you (be) a part of the SAG Union and things like that.
I personally think that moments like Unreal are what are going to push this industry forward and branch out into sports and into Hollywood in ways that we didn’t know it could. And also, we’re going to get new fans, it’s on Netflix, hello, new fans are going to watch this, and they’re going to tune in to Raw and SmackDown, PLEs and NXTs, and there’s nothing bad about that.”
