As noted before, Chris Jericho’s contract with AEW was believed to have expired at the end of 2025 and he has been absent from the company since this past April. Jericho has been rumored for some time to be returning to WWE.
Fightful Select reported that their sources close to Jericho and within AEW stated that they are currently under the belief that Jericho’s contract was frozen after he took time off early last year.
It was reported that Jericho is still firmly under a contract with AEW as of this week.
It was also reported that when they asked AEW “a number of times” in an official capacity if Jericho had left the company, they dd not receive a response.
Jericho’s profile is still listed on the roster page of AEW’s official website.
It was reported that there has been no internal memo released regarding his exit, which is the standard procedure within the company for when a talent officially leaves.
In regards to Jericho’s future, those spoken to close to Jericho reportedly were being very tight-lipped. Jericho reportedly had told some people that he would be open to a WWE return but he feared it would mean giving up his outside projects while under contract with the company.
