WWE announced one new match for the card of next week’s WWE SmackDown show on March 6th at the PHX Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.
This new match announced was an Undisputed WWE Championship match of Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre (c).
This new match was setup following Saturday’s Elimination Chamber 2026 event in Chicago, Illinois over SmackDown GM Nick Aldis being irate that McIntyre interfered in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match after he had specifically asked him to not do that at the SmackDown show the night before. This led to the two getting into a heated confrontation backstage when the show was over and had to be separated by WWE officials and security.

Aldis then interrupted the post-show to announced that due to his actions towards Cody Rhodes in the match, McIntyre will be defending his title against Rhodes at next week’s SmackDown show. This led to another heated confrontation between McIntyre and Aldis that led to security and officials coming out again to separate the two.
