Ticket Sales for WrestleMania 42 Reportedly Performing Worse Than Week Prior

As noted before, WWE held an internal multi-department meeting earlier this month to address the issue with ticket sales for this April’s WrestleMania 42 event in Las Vegas, Nevada have fallen below the company’s current expectations. WWE’s ticket sales for WrestleMania 42 were around almost 10,000 lower for each night compared to WrestleMania 41’s ticket sales at that same point last year.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE’s current ticket sales for WrestleMania 42 managed to perform even worse over this past week than the week before.

Meltzer reported that the recent 25% off discount sale for tickets over this past Valentine’s Day weekend appears to have led to no real boost in ticket sales and instead this past week managed to perform even worse.

Meltzer reported that as of Friday, WWE had sold and distributed around 35,690 tickets for Night 1 on April 18th and around 36,372 tickets for Night 2 on April 19th. WWE reportedly is down by around 17,252 tickets in total sales and comps compared to this same point last year for WrestleMania 41. In terms of percentages, WrestleMania 42’s tickets sales are currently down 19.3% compared to last year’s sales.

Meltzer also reported that despite the much lower than expected ticket sales for WrestleMania 42, the event is still expected to generate the two highest gates in pro wrestling history due to the very high ticket prices being charged for the shows.

One high-level WWE official spoken to reportedly stated that “the audience is there. Are they inclined to pay ten gazillion dollars for tickets?” in regards to WWE’s current sluggish sales situation for WrestleMania 42.
