As noted before, AJ Francis recently signed a new contract with TNA Wrestling to remain in the company for the foreseeable future.
A recent episode of the Hitting The Turnbuckle podcast featured Francis as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Francis’ thoughts about his decision to sign a new contract with TNA and his love for working with TNA President Carols Silva playing a major role in him wanting to stay in the company.
“You know, it’s the fact that I have a lot of respect for Carlos Silva. Carlos is my favorite boss that I’ve ever worked for in wrestling and it’s not close. He views wrestling — it might be because he didn’t come from the wrestling world — but he views wrestling from a lens that I view wrestling from because I have always understood the the impact that bringing outside sources into the building, non wrestling entities into the wrestling building can help grow wrestling. Me and Carlos talk about sports all the time and we want to be — even though it’s a show, we recognize the benefit of it being treated like a sport. That’s why I made sure that ESPN was the one that broke that I signed with TNA. It’s also I do things like that to prove that nobody else can do those things, right? So, it’s a way that I differentiate myself as well. I love working for Carlos and I could tell you a million behind the scenes stories as to why, but there’s not even a point. It’s just Carlos is fantastic.
Also, Tommy Dreamer is the reason I’m in TNA. Tommy Dreamer believed in me before it was cool to believe in me. I really feel strongly for the people that I work with in TNA and I’m so grateful for the opportunities that they consistently provide me.
Now, they need to provide me a championship opportunity very soon. That was the main conversation I had with Carlos. I was like, ‘Look man, how many more times do I bae to put on match of the night before I get some gold?’”
