As noted before, WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill and Rhea Ripley recently got involved in an online feud that was initially meant to help build their storyline feud for their title match at WrestleMania 42 but quickly turned into a “shoot” instead after allegations made by Cargill claiming Ripley politics her way into getting big pushes for her big star status in the Women’s division in WWE. Cargill is believed to have been dealing with backstage heat with the women’s locker room over this issue and other past issues involving her in the company.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that the online back-and-forth interactions between Cargill and Ripley was something that was not devised by WWE Creative. Johnson reported that a number of sources spoken to have placed the blame directly on Cargill for the situation that took place.
One source spoken to reportedly stated that Cargill has rubbed several women talents the wrong way and the back-and-forth with Ripley allowed them to step in and voice their opinions on the matter. This same source reportedly also stated that this isn’t the first time that Cargill has upset others within the company over the way she has conducted herself. This same source reportedly also stated that the real reason for her disappearance from WWE programming at the end of 2024 through the beginning of 2025 was not due to any injury-related reason but instead it was for her to spend some time at the Performance Center to allow the issues between her and the other women backstage to cool down.
Another source spoken to who had initially tried to downplay the situation later stated that it is likely the company will try to speak with Cargill about her current relationship with the other women in the locker room. Johnson reported that while WWE’s female talent have been happy to help put Cargill over on television, the current feeling is that she does not return the favor with some describing Cargill as being “insecure.”
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources stated that the back-and-forth between Ripley and Cargill initially started as a “playful work” but then things took a more serious turn after Cargill brought up Ripley speaking with WWE creative for extended periods.
Sapp reported that this exchange between the two left many within WWE confused and unable to figure out how bringing up creative could be used to further their feud heading into their title match at WrestleMania 42.
In regards to the reaction within WWE, Sapp reported that those within WWE are “generally happy” about how this situation has turned out given the buzz it has created for Cargill and Ripley’s upcoming match and many fans believing there is a legitimate dislike between the two.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that there is currently no concern within WWE that the two will not be able to work together at next month’s WrestleMania 42 event. One member of WWE’s creative team reportedly shut down the idea that this who situation was an elaborate work.
Those close to Cargill reportedly stated that they believed it wasn’t a big deal. Sapp reported that there currently does not appear to be any real heat on anyone for the tweets posted over the past couple of days.
In regards to Cargill’s injury situation in 2024, Sapp stated that he was repeatedly told that Cargill had suffered a legitimate injury for the reason for her abscense from WWE between late 2024 to early 2025.
