Saturday’s NJPW New Japan Cup 2026 Finals event at the Aore Nagaoka in Nagaoka, Japan featured Callum Newman defeating Yuya Uemura in the Finals of the New Japan Cup to become the winner of this year’s tournament.

This was Newman’s first ever New Japan Cup tournament victory in his NJPW career.
Newman also set the new all-time record of becoming the youngest person ever to win a New Japan Cup tournament in NJPW history at 23 years old, surpassing the previous record held by Kazuchika Okada at 25 years old.
As a result of his victory, Newman will be facing off against Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at NJPW’s Sakura Genesis 2026 event on April 4th in Tokyo.
