Maya World on “A Lot Happened Backstage That Night” When Her & Hyan Filled In for Nov. 8, 2025 AEW Collision Show

As noted before, Miranda Alize and Nixon Newell (former Tegan Nox in WWE) were involved in a backstage incident at the November 8, 2025 AEW Collision show in Houston, Texas. This incident revolved around Alize and Newell’s issues with their booking that was later revealed to be over them getting less time than they wanted for their scheduled tag team match against TayJay (Tay Melo & Anna Jay) and walked out in response. Hyan and Maya World filled in for Alize and Newell on a very short notice after the incident and were signed to official contracts with AEW this past December as a reward for their professionalism.

A recent episode of the Off The Ropes podcast featured World as the guest. One of the topics discussed included World’s thoughts about her and Hyan filling in for that night for AEW’s Collision show and her belief that it helped speed up the process of them getting signed to the company.

Thunder Rosa – “Which by the way, Maya, it reminds of the story of how… We were just talking about when somebody is gone, somebody else gets an opportunity and they stepped up. Her and your tag team partner got an opportunity to have another match on TV, right? And then from there on, you guys were signed.”

Maya World – “A lot happened backstage that night.”

Rosa – “Yes, I remember. It was in Texas. I do remember.”

World – “Like you said, we stepped up and of course, me and Hyan were two of the women that were always picked for extra work and always back there so I think, like I said before, Tony’s not just offering anybody a contract. He’d seen us and the work we’d been putting in. So, us stepping up, it meant a lot to him and I think that’s ultimately the reason we got signed. But I always say, we were always working hard so we were gonna get that eventually. It just kind of sped up the process.”
