MJF on AEW is “Killing It” With Him as AEW World Champion, Upcoming Match with Hangman Page, His Belief Deathmatch Wrestling is “Hack, Very Indie And Trash”, Older Wrestlers Continuing To Wrestle Into Their 50s And 60s, & His Meeting with Seth Rollins

A recent episode of TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast featured AEW World Champion MJF as the guest. One of the topics discussed included MJF’s thoughts about his reasons why he feels AEW’s business metrics have been doing very well of late.

“We’d be f—-ed if MJF left the territory, if you will. I’m the biggest star this company’s got. Right now, since I’ve won the championship, we’re up in every single metric: ticket sales, pay-per-view buys, ratings. We’re absolutely killing it right now.

The other reason why our show is doing so incredibly right now is because of the cast of characters that are trying to take this championship away from me. You have Hangman, you have Kenny Omega, you have Swerve Strickland, you have Samoa Joe, you have Andrade El Ídolo, you have Kyle Fletcher, you have Bandido, you have Darby Allin, you have Brody King, you have Kevin Knight, you have ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey. I mean, the list goes on and on. And the scary part is it’s growing.

That’s what’s so cool about All Elite Wrestling. The reason we’re catching fire right now, and everybody unanimously agrees, facts not feelings, is that we’re putting on the best professional wrestling shows in the sport today. And that’s because we have the best professional wrestlers in the sport today, bar none.”

MJF also gave his thoughts about his upcoming Texas Death Match against Hangman Adam Page for his AEW World title at AEW’s Revolution 2026 event.

“I’m gonna rope-a-dope this guy a little bit, Muhammad Ali style. I’m gonna tire him out just by ducking and dodging him. You know, he’s a great brawler, but he doesn’t have a great gas tank like I do. I have an immense amount of cardio. I mean I’ve been in I was in the greatest Ironman match of all time that lasted well over an hour. I’ve been in another match that lasted an hour against Will Ospreay. I’ve had multiple grueling matchups, not to say that Hangman hasn’t. It’s just like my cardio is better than his. I will admit this. I think he might be a little bit stronger than me. But at the end of the day, you can’t hit what you can’t touch. So that that is going to be my motus operandi inside that squared circle. Throughout the matchup.”

MJF also gave his thoughts about his dislike of deathmatch wrestling and his belief that style of wrestling is “hack and very indie and trash and garbage.”

“Look, it’s complicated. You know, a part of me is obviously upset. I don’t believe in this kind of professional wrestling. I think this kind of professional wrestling is hack and very indie and trash and garbage, which is why Hangman loves to do it. But the part of me that is happy is I really know for a fact I’m going to win. There’s no part of me that’s questioning that. The idea of ensuring that he could never be world champion again, just literally, if you see this belt move, it’s because I can get hard just at the thought of it. I mean, honestly, it’s incredible.”

MJF also gave his thoughts about wrestlers working into their 50s and 60s and how doesn’t have a problem with it as long as they are still talented enough to perform.

“Do I personally like it? I don’t have a problem with it if the talent’s still there. I have a problem with it if you’re slow and you’re taking up a spot of a younger talent that should be in the spot you’re in just because you’re being selfish. I don’t have a problem with it.”

MJF also gave his thoughts about his meeting and conversation with Seth Rollins during the NFL’s Super Bowl LX media week this past February.

“In our industry, when somebody’s undeniable, you want to get to know and talk to that person because we respect the sport that we do. Seth Rollins is undeniable. MJF is undeniable. So it’s a big deal when I get to hang out with him, and it’s a big deal when he gets to hang out with me. We enjoy each other’s company. We enjoy picking each other’s brains. He’s one hell of a talent, man. He’s the face of his promotion. I’m the face of mine.”
