“Timeless” Toni Storm’s AEW Hiatus Reportedly Impacted Major Storyline Plans

As noted before, “Timeless” Toni Storm is currently out of action for AEW due to an undisclosed reason that was later revealed to not be injury-related. Storm is currently not expected to wrestle again in 2026 due to this undisclosed issue.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that the exact reason for Storm’s hiatus is currently not known beyond it not being an injury situation and it came up on the day of AEW’s Dynamite show on March 18th.

Meltzer reported that AEW’s original plans for Storm prior to her hiatus was for her to beat Marina Shafir to lead to the start of a program with Thekla for the AEW Women’s World Championship.

Meltzer also reported that when AEW officials found out that Storm could not wrestle, they laid out the injury angle and will be doing a tease akin to ” Who Shot JR?” with clues and multiple potential assailants.

Storm reportedly did an autograph signing event over the past weekend and was seen not selling any injury at all.

Those spoken to reportedly stated that the current two topics that AEW CEO Tony Khan refuses to share any details whenever asked are Storm’s reason for her current hiatus and his attempt to buy WWE in 2023.
