As noted before, pro wrestling and sports combat streaming service Triller Group Inc. was officially delisted from NASDAQ at the end of this past December due to serious financial-related issues. Both prior and after the delisting, Triller’s future had been in serious doubt with AEW and several indies promotions looking at their potential options elsewhere for their events streaming businesses on the service.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that TrillerTV currently has a new suitor seeking to purchase the company.
Johnson reported that Orange Crush, headed by Adam Abdalla, is currently assembling private funding to purchase the company from TrillerTV’s current ownership.
Abdalla currently is the head of the New York City-based public relations powerhouse Cultural Counsel and sits on the board of several artistic and historical institutions. Abdalla reportedly is also well connected in the film, TV, and media industries.
Abdalla also recently launched GameTime Sessions which is the “first-ever museum-led culture and sports conference at the opening of the largest traveling contemporary art and sports exhibit.”
In the wrestling industry, Abdalla was known for his time as the booker for Jersey Championship Wrestling and had recently departed from the company. Abdalla is currently in the process of launching his own new wrestling promotion called PRODUCE this June with plans to hold events in New York City and New Jersey.
Johnson reported that those spoken to stated that part of Abdalla’s plan for TrillerTV is to “bring music videos back to the forefront by incorporating them, along with movies, onto the platform to augment the combat sports component.”
Johnson also reported that the current belief is that if Abdalla and Orange Crush are successful, then most of the pre-Triller FITE Team will remain with the company under new ownership.
