Backstage Update on John Cena Being The Host of WrestleMania 42
As noted before, former WWE wrestler John Cena announced on Monday that he will be the official host of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fightful Select reported that their sources confirmed that the reason for Cena being named as the host of WrestleMania 42 was a move made by WWE officials to help boost the ticket sales for the upcoming two-night event.
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that despite the recent online speculation and controversy, Cena had made it very clear that he would not wrestle again after his retirement match this past December bit he would always have an affiliation with the company. Meltzer also confirmed that WWE’s decision was simply due to the company trying to boost ticket sales for WrestleMania 42 due to the event has fallen even farther behind than last year’s pace in recent days.
Trish Stratus Comments on Her Making Another Potential WWE Return in the Future
WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus last wrestled for WWE at this past August’s Evolution 2026 event.
Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown on SI held a recent interview with Stratus. One of the topics discussed included Stratus’ thoughts about her making another potential return to WWE in the future.
“I need to see the landscape. I’m very storyline driven, and for me, is it gonna be interesting for the fans? Is it something they wanna see? Is it gonna elevate someone? Of course, there’s like the storyline behind it. I love the story, I wanna make sure it makes sense and I wanna make sure the landscape makes sense for me to enter into.”
WWE Reportedly Interested in Potentially Signing Conan Lycan
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE is currently interested in signing indies talent Conan Lycan to a potential contract.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that there have been discussions about a meeting between Lycan and NXT officials in recent weeks.
It is currently not known if an official offer has been made yet to Lycan.
Lycan has been wrestling for the past 8 years in the indies and outside of wrestling, he is known for appearing as a competitor in the second season of Mr. Beast’s “Best Games” series on Amazon Prime Video.
