Trick Williams Comments on Him Feeling Carmelo Hayes “Deserves” A WrestleMania Moment

As noted before, this past Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania featured Sami Zayn defeating Carmelo Hayes in an Open Challenge match to become the new WWE United States Champion, Zayn is currently scheduled to defend his title against Trick Williams at WrestleMania 42. Zayn’s victory resulted in some negative online backlash over some fans being upset Hayes lost the title and him not having a spot at WrestleMania.

A recent episode of the Hot 97 Mornings with Mero radio show featured Williams as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Williams’ thoughts about Hayes’ title loss and his belief that Hayes deserved to get his WrestleMania moment.

“He’s assuming Carmelo Hayes. My long-time tag team partner. We got a lot of history back in the day but honestly, I’m glad I don’t have to beat down a Black man on a WrestleMania stage. Because I don’t care who’s in front of me, everybody gotta get it. It is what it is but, nah, all jokes aside, me and Melo, we go way back of course and I would love to see him get his moment and he deserves that and you never know, he probably still will. He carried that U.S. Title great so, he deserves his moment. I’m sure he’s going to get his moment…”
