As noted before, last week’s AEW Dynamite Spring BreakThru 2026 show in Everett, Washington featured Darby Allin defeating MJF to become the new AEW World Champion.
Brian Cage responded earlier today on Twitter about the online criticisms from some fans towards Allin’s AEW World Championship victory and his praise of Allin’s contributions in AEW.
“I’ve noticed some criticism over @DarbyAllin winning the @AEW title. First and foremost, this guy absolutely deserves it. He’s not only a phenomenal in ring worker and bleeds aew, but this guy is the epitome of getting yourself over. Darby kills himself week after week, in a new, creative, and destructive way. Yet somehow gets back up, again and again.
I’m “the” bodyguy, and yes, Darby is very small. But he has fought harder than anyone to get the people behind him, and has become very believable in his matches. So huge stamp of a approval from me to have him as world champion. And bonus points for the shock pop and the call back headlock takeover finish.”

Allin is currently scheduled to defend his title against Brody King at next week’s Dynamite show on April 29th following him successfully defending his title against Tommaso Ciampa on the April 22nd show in Portland, Oregon.
