CMLL Owner Salvador Lutteroth III Comments on Plans To Expand ‘Global Image of Mexican Lucha Libre’ with CMLL Slamfest Event
A recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio featured CMLL owner Salvador Lutteroth III as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Lutteroth’s thoughts about CMLL’s current plans to expand the global image of Mexican Lucha Libre with their upcoming Slamfest event in Las Vegas.
“It’s the first time CMLL goes abroad with a complete show… an opportunity for us to show a complete program of CMLL talent in the States. We’re asking our wrestlers to do what they usually do in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Puebla, and the rest of the country.
What we all aim is a presence of CMLL, or Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre, at the international level. We formed alliances with New Japan Pro Wrestling, with AEW and the branches that belong to AEW, RevPro, MLW, MLP, and we still want to be part of a more global image of Mexican lucha libre.”

Cyrus Pulled From AJPW Champion Carnival 2026 Tournament
All Japan Pro Wrestling announced earlier today that they have pulled Cyrus from their upcoming Champion Carnival 2026 tournament due to him cancelling a schedule flight to Japan.
It was also announced that they have not been able to contact him over his abscense from the company.
It was also announced that a replacement for Cyrus will be announced in an upcoming pres conference event this Thursday in Japan.
“Regarding Cyrus, who had been scheduled to appear at ‘Champion Carnival 2026’ starting April 12 (Sunday) at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, we regret to inform you that it has been decided he will be absent from the entire series.
After reaching a contractual agreement, we announced his participation and proceeded with preparations for his arrival in Japan, including visa arrangements.
However, we were subsequently unable to make contact with him. Today, when we asked his agent to confirm his flight with the airline, it was discovered that the flight he was scheduled to board had been canceled by Cyrus himself.
As of now, we have received no report from him regarding the cancellation of the flight, and as a result, we have determined that it will be difficult for him to participate in ‘Champion Carnival 2026.’”
