Backstage Update on Brock Lesnar’s In-Ring Career Future After Retirement Moment at WrestleMania 42
As noted before, this past Sunday’s WWE WrestleMania 42 Night 2 event featured Brock Lesnar teasing his retirement from his in-ring wrestling career after he took off his gloves and boots and left it the ring.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that there is a strong belief within WWE that Lesnar was genuinely saying goodbye when he left his gloves and boots in the ring following his match with Oba Femi.
It was reported that there are others within WWE who currently belive that Lesnar will have one more match at this August’s SummerSlam 2026 event due to Lesnar’s deep roots in Minneapolis where the show will be taking place. One WWE source spoken to reportedly stated that they were hoping Lesnar would be on the SummerSlam card but also acknowledged this is not a definite thing.
John Cena Teasing “Something Epic” for Backlash 2026
John Cena is currently teasing that he will be having a role at WWE’s Backlash 2026 event on May 9th in Tampa, Florida.
Cena announced on Twitter earlier today that he promised Club WWE something special and he is going to try to do “something epic” on the show.
“Man if only it were 2023 again!! I might have different business at @WWE #Backlash Alas, the years pass. I am still gonna try to do something epic in Tampa for 5/9. I promised Club WWE something special… stay tuned.”

Sol Ruca Needed Staples For Head Wound Injury at 4/21 WWE NXT Revenge Week 2 Show
This past Tuesday’s WWE NXT Revenge Week 2 show at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida featured Zaria defeating Sol Ruca in a Last Woman Standing match. This match was notable for the finish involving Zaria shoving Ruca off of the NXT balcony onto two tables on the floor and Ruca’s back of her head smacking one of the tables that didn’t break.
Ruca provided an update earlier today on Instagram revealing that she needed eight staples to close her wound in the back of her after her match with Zaria.
It is currently not known if Ruca will be missing any action due to her injury situation.
