As noted before, Darby Allin had defeated MJF to become the new AEW World Champion on the April 15th Spring BreakThru 2026 episode of AEW Dynamite. Allin’s reign as champion came to an end after MJF defeated him in a Hair vs. Title match at AEW’s Double or Nothing 2026 event on May 24th.
Fightful Select reported that their sources within AEW stated that they had initially doubted the booking decision to have Allin win the AEW World Championship but now applaud Allin’s efforts to make his title run special.
It was reported that AEW officials plans for Allin’s title reign was initially met with skepticism within AEW at the time and several of those doubters had changed their minds over Allin going the extra mile to make his championship reign special.
Allin’s in-ring work during his reign reportedly generated positive reactions across the AEW locker room.
It was reported that those spoken to stated that MJF had been supportive of Allin’s title reign dating back quite a while.
