As noted before, WWE recently announced several new dates for their upcoming 2026 Summer Tour live events schedule.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE officials made the decision to hold more house show events than usual this summer was due to their roster having more younger wrestlers than before.
Meltzer reported that WWE officials felt it was good for their younger main roster talent to get more experience away from television and made the decision to expand their events schedule.
Meltzer also reported that unlike a few years ago, WWE will very likely be making a nice profit margin doing the house shows.
In regards to the reason why WWE originally cut back on running house show events in the past, Meltzer reported that the idea was that by having less shows would create more of a demand for house show events and the belief that the older roster could use less dates to reduce the wear and tear on their bodies. WWE officials reportedly had also thought their older roster had enough ring experience to make the decision to cut back on the shows in the past.
Meltzer reported that WWE’s current attempt is to get a younger roster now and believed they could use more reps before a live crowd for shows.
