WWE Reportedly Having “Serious” Talk About ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith Crossover for Shows

As noted before, WWE’s promotional work for WrestleMania 42 week this past April included Danhausen making a surprise appearance on ESPN’s First Take show and cursed ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith following a confrontation between the two. ESPN is currently believed to be “pleased” and enthusiastic” about the possibility of Smith getting involved with WWE as part of the working relationship between the two companies.

Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that TKO does not actually get involved much in WWE’s creative plans but they do have a habit of doing so at the worse times in response to recent comments from WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash, who had urged TKO to stop messing with WWE creative.

Meltzer reported that his sources stated that there are people internally in WWE who have been favorable to the idea of Pat McAfee’s ESPN colleague Smith crossing over into pro wrestling. Meltzer also reported that a lot of people who were not happy about McAfee’s involvement in the build to WrestleMania 42 and event itself are in fact favorable to Smith being involved in WWE shows.

Meltzer also reported that this is entirely a “wait and see” type situation if it does happen in the future.
