As noted before, Mercedes Mone has been absent from AEW since the January 10th episode of AEW Collision due to her taking a break following her TBS Championship loss to Willow Nightingale this past December. During her time away from AEW, Mone had competed in several indies matches and dropping all of her Women’s titles she had held as part of her belt collector’s gimmick with the exception of the 2025 AEW Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Championship.
Fightful Select reported that their sources confirmed that Mone is still under contract with AEW and is currently expected to return “soon.”
It was reported that it is not known if Mone will be Alex Windsor’s mystery Wild Card opponent for her 2026 Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament match at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show.
It was also reported that Mone has not been seen backstage ahead of tonight’s Dynamite show as of the time of their report.
It was also reported that Windsor had been training with a stand-in on Wednesday, who was her fiance Will Ospreay.
In regards to AEW’s current plans for Mone’s return, it was reported that an exact return date is currently not known but her involvement upon that return will have “major ramifications” at the top of AEW’s Women’s division.
