As noted before, this past Saturday’s WWE Crown Jewel 2026 event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia featured Oba Femi defeating Jey Uso to become the winner of this year’s King of the Ring tournament. Femi earned a title shot for either the WWE World Heavyweight Championship or Undisputed Championship at this August’s SummerSlam 2026 as a reward for his tournament victory.
During Monday’s WWE RAW show in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Femi forgo his guaranteed title shot at SummerSlam for a rematch against Brock Lesnar instead following Lesnar’s interaction and attack on him on the show.
Later in the show, Femi had a backstage conversation with RAW General Adam Pearce over him confirming he wanted a match against Lesnar and stated that championships are not going anywhere and he can take them whenever he wants. This quickly led to some speculation and confusion online from fans about if Femi’s comments meant he still has his guaranteed title shot opportunity after his match against Lesnar.
Adam Pearce – “Oba, it’s a little unorthodox, a little unexpected, I wanna make sure I heard you right.”
Oba Femi – “You did, because the title is always going to be there. The championships are not going anywhere, I’ll take that when I want it.”
Pearce – “So SummerSlam, Oba Femi, Brock Lesnar, Hell in a Cell. You’re sure, 100% sure?”
Femi – “Yes, I’m sure. It needs to happen. This needs to end, and I will be the one to put an end to it.”

Tuesday’s episode of the RAW Recap podcast featured co-hosts Sam Roberts and Megan Morant implying that Femi no longer has his title shot opportunity that he earned for winning the King of the Ring tournament since it was only valid for SummerSlam.
Sam Roberts – “Oba Femi, who is not only haunted by that loss [to Lesnar], has been embarrassed on his day. So he says, ‘Enough, I understand I’m entitled to an opportunity for the World Championship or the WWE Undisputed Championship.’ But as he said backstage to Adam Pearce, ‘I know I will get another opportunity at the Championship.’ And there is no doubt in anybody’s mind — like nobody looks at SummerSlam and goes, ‘Well, this is the one time Oba Femi is ever going to get a championship match.’
Megan Morant – “No one’s looking at this and saying Oba’s blowing it. Oba’s throwing away an opportunity.”
