Backstage Update on AEW’s Plans for AEW Redemption

As noted before, this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show featured the official announcement of Kenny Omega defending his AEW World Championship against “The Jet” Kevin Knight at AEW Redemption on July 26 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Several other matches for the upcoming event were also made official during this past Wednesday’s show.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Knight’s AEW World title match opportunity against Omega has been in the works by AEW officials for quite some time.

Those spoken to reportedly stated that the Knight vs. Omega match for the AEW World title is part of the company’s long-term plans for Knight.

In regards to the creative plans for Redemption, it was reported that those spoken to stated that several creative plans for the event were kept as a closely guarded secret until the day a lot of the matches were officially announced.
