Backstage Update on Tay Melo & Sammy Guevara’s AEW Careers Status and Future

As noted before, Sammy Guevara stated in an interview with MuscleManMalcom earlier this month that it is not his call for when he can return to making regular appearances on AEW programming in response to his infrequent appearances this year so far.

Guevara recently updated his bio on his Twitter account that no longer features any mention of AEW and brought attention to it in a tweet he posted on July 19 stating “new bio.”

Guevara’s updated bio header currently reads “World Champion, Husband, Father & Professional Wrestler.”

This quickly led to online speculation of Guevara’s future with AEW being uncertain and him possibly being done with the company.

The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported that his sources within AEW stated that nobody in the company seems to know what is going on with Guevara at the moment. Alvarez reported that Guevara’s status will liekly be known by Wednesday once AEW gets evereyone for that night’s AEW television tapings.

Alvarez reported that both Guevara and his wife and AEW talent Tay Melo had requested their releases from AEW in 2025 but both were rejected.

Guevara has been with AEW since February of 2019 while Melo has been with AEW since August of 2020.
