Backstage Update on WWE’s Current Plans for CM Punk’s Undisputed WWE Title Reign Following 7/6 WWE RAW Show

As noted before, this past Monday’s WWE RAW show in Rosemont, Illinois featured CM Punk making a surprise return and defeating Sami Zayn to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that CM Punk is currently expected to have a lengthy reign as Undisputed WWE Champion. Those spoken to reportedly stated that most of Punk’s reign will be taking place on WWE’s SmackDown brand.

It was reported that NBCU officials had been pushing for his presence on the SmackDown brand for well over a year due to they view him as being a “premier” star for the show. Punk reportedly will still make RAW appearances when needed by WWE.
