Claudio Castagnoli on Sheamus Potentially Joining AEW Following WWE Departure

As noted before, Sheamus recently departed from WWE following the expiration of his contract. Sheamus’ departure was later revealed to be due to him turning down WWE’s offer for a restructured contract extension deal. At least one AEW talent is currently expected to push for AEW to sign Sheamus and work with him in the company.

The Daily Star held a recent interview with Claudio Castagnoli. One of the topics discussed included Castagnoli’s thoughts about the potential of Sheamus joining AEW in the future and a potential reunion of him and Sheamus as a tag team.

“I mean, I feel that’s not for me to talk about. I feel that is for him to talk about when he’s ready for it. I’ve stayed friends with him throughout. Of course, I would like to see my friends on a more regular basis. But yeah, I feel I’m gonna get that question a lot, but I do feel that is his to answer when he’s ready for it.” Castagnoli continued, “What I can say is me and him have been doing a lot of training together, a lot of further education if you will and kind of thinking about the future and whatever, and what we would really like to do is we wanna get our refereeing degree and become The VAR.”
