As noted before, Sheamus recently departed from WWE following the expiration of his contract. Sheamus’ departure was later revealed to be due to him turning down WWE’s offer for a restructured contract extension deal.
A recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast featured co-host Matt Hardy giving his thoughts about Sheamus leaving WWE and him potentially heading to AEW for the next destination in his wrestling career.
“I mean, I think it all depends on timing and place. So for instance, at AEW, could they use them? I don’t know. AEW has a ton of former WWE talent. It has a ton of wrestlers, but on top of that, a ton of former WWE talent.
It’s [AEW] got a huge bloated roster that doesn’t use everybody. Could he add beneficial equity to AEW? I mean, he probably could. It depends on how they’re going to feature him. I don’t know how he would feel about he is featured, maybe it’s real good, but not something he’s happy with. Who knows? AEW is kind of a roll of the dice.“
Hardy also gave his thoughts about the potential of Sheamus of potentially going to TNA Wrestling instead for the next destination in his wrestling career.
“With TNA, I mean, it is a place where he could work, but obviously we’re still…it’s budgeted. Obviously, you know, we’ve (Hardy and Jon Alba) talked about the budget. They [TNA] have a budget that they have to stick very strictly to. I think if you’re willing to come do TNA, you could still be in a great spot and you could be highlighted on the show, and you could help give other talents rub.“
