[Spoiler] WWE’s Current Plans for New Match at SummerSlam 2026

As noted before, this past June’s WWE Night of Champions 2026 event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia featured a post-show angle that took place involving Gunther and SmackDown GM Nick Aldis getting into a heated argument and physical altercation backstage. WWE has been considering plans for a match between Gunther and Aldis to potentially take place at some point. The July 10th WWE SmackDown show featured Gunther and Aldis’ bad blood feud with each other continuing following Aldis being reinstated as the SmackDown GM and Gunther’s attack on him in response.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that WWE officials currently have plans locked in place for Gunther and Aldis to face off against each other in a match at this August’s SummerSlam 2026 event in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This will be Aldis’ first match in WWE since joining the company in August of 2023 and his first match in his wrestling career since October of 2023.
