Video: Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, Gunther, CM Punk

We get a shot of Oklahoma City before going to a video package looking back at the build to Monday night’s Undisputed WWE Championship match on Raw, from Cody Rhodes being attacked backstage by Gunther to Nick Aldis securing the replacement challenger…who turned out to be a returning CM Punk…all the way to the finish that saw Punk win the title in the main event.

In-Ring: Nick Aldis, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes

We head to ringside, where Nick Aldis has been reinstated as SmackDown General Manager after taking on mediation following his scuffle with Gunther at Night of Champions. With that out of the way, Aldis introduces our new Undisputed WWE Champion to the ring as CM Punk steps out to a big pop.

The crowd sings along with his theme as Punk makes his way down the ramp with a little bit of a shiner after the match on Raw. He enters the ring, posing for the crowd before Aldis thanks him for taking his call on Monday, giving the new champ the floor. He tells the fans that he had been in talks with WWE and NBCUniversal, spearheaded by Nick Aldis to bring Punk to SmackDown. Those talks were expedited on Monday, and when title opportunities fall out of the sky he is willing to catch them.

He talks about getting his gear on at home, kissing his beautiful wife goodbye, and heading to the arena on Monday. Now, he gets to ask how great it is to be alive on a Friday Night in Oklahoma City.

Punk addresses those in the back and how hungry they are to go after this title. Like he told Nick before the show started, he tells those in the back that if anyone thinks he’s got something that belongs to them, come fight for it. He turns his attention to Sami Zayn, acknowledging what the former champ had to say about him on social media. He understands where Zayn is coming from, and he certainly deserves a rematch.

He also brings up Gunther as someone he’s had history with, even if he ends up regretting saying his name. He brings up Finn Balor and their title bouts in recent months, as well as Royce Keys and Damian Priest…before being interrupted by the arrival of Cody Rhodes. Cody gets a light reaction, though some in the front row are happy to see him as he gives some high fives on his way down the ramp.

He heads to the ring, posing on the turnbuckle for some more pyro before standing across from Punk in the ring. He mocks the new champ slightly as he notices the shiner before taking a microphone of his own. He asks Punk about his eye, with the champ saying it looks worse than it feels but he knows that’s not what Cody is here for…so what do you wanna talk about?

Cody says he was just remarking how similar their situations were, and how the last time they stood in the ring together he was the one with a black eye. He talks about title matches that fall out of the sky like the one on Monday night, versus title matches that have been building for years.

Punk admits that subconsciously he may have been avoiding this situation for some time, because they’re friends he didn’t want anything to get in the way of that. He also thought that if they were gonna do this it would be the main event of WrestleMania, but he doesn’t think they can run away from each other anymore. Rhodes agrees, and as he starts to talk about looking for that shot Punk interrupts to ask him when.

The crowd chants “OKC” and are quickly disappointed when Rhodes says he wants the shot at SummerSlam, leading to some light boos for a moment. This dies down as the two shake hands and Aldis says it’s official.

Backstage: Jade Cargill, Michin, B-Fab

Backstage, we hear from Jade Cargill and her amazing baddies as Cargill runs down Alexa Bliss ahead of their match later tonight. The group walks off and SmackDown rolls on as we head back to ringside.

Finn Balor vs. Tama Tonga

Finn Balor makes his entrance, and up next he takes on Tama Tonga!

Back at ringside, Tama Tonga makes his way to the ring alongside Talla Tonga as we take a look at the confrontation leading to this match before things get underway!

Balor charges at his former Bullet Club teammate, unleashing a flurry of offense on Tama before taking him down with a basement dropkick in the middle of the ring. He sends Tama to the outside before hitting the ropes…but Talla stops him from going for a dive, allowing Tama to take control for a nearfall as we go to picture-in-picture.

Picture-in-Picture: Tama maintains that control as he sends the first-ever Universal Champion to the outside, laying Balor out with a clothesline before getting back in the ring. The ref’s count stops when Finn gets back in the ring, but Tama continues to wear him down before cinching in a headlock. Finn fights back to his feet, but Tama keeps him grounded as Talla watches on. Finn manages to get back on his feet, but Tama sends him to the corner and then across the ring…only for Finn to dodge him for a roll up and a two count. Tama strikes back for a nearfall of his own and Finn retreats to the ropes as we come back from break.

Tama sends Finn to the ropes, but Balor fights back with a headscissors into a armbar of sorts. He breaks the hold to go to the ropes with a flying forearm. Tama gets back up in the corner before sending Finn to the corner, only for Balor to fight back with a reverse DDT and a nearfall. Tama back to his feet once more and takes Balor down with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a two count, sending Finn to the corner for a forearm strike.

He backs up, mocking Balor in the process…and gets taken to the mat with a sling blade by Finn, who then sends Tama to the corner with a shotgun dropkick! He goes up top for a Coup de Grace…but Talla distracts him by getting onto the apron. This allows Tama to dodge the Coup de Grace and land a Cutthroat for the cover…but Finn kicks out!

Tama goes for another attack but is cradled for two by Balor, who sends him to the outside for a dive over the ropes onto both Tongans. He brings Tama back into the ring, going up top for the Coup de Grace and the win!

Winner: Finn Balor via Pinfall.

Finn retreats up the ramp before Talla can go after him

Backstage: Carmelo Hayes

We head backstage. Carmelo Hayes addresses what Lil Yachty had to say. He runs down the rapper, saying his best hits are features…let’s talk about it. He gives Trick credit for his aura but promises that Melo don’t miss. He walks off and SmackDown continues.

Backstage: R-Truth, Fraxiom, War Raiders, Jimmy Uso, Jacob Fatu, Damian Priest

R-Truth pays off his debts to Fraxiom over the World Cup before the War Raiders step in, looking for their title shots. This is interrupted by Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu, who talk to Truth about Solo. Truth says he must be out babysitting some kids, before Fatu asks if he’s seen Royce Keys. Truth claims he’s never seen the man a day in his life, before Damian Priest steps in to say hello…and tells Fatu that Royce is here. Jacob tells Jimmy they should head to the ring as we go to commercial.

Backstage: Nick Aldis, Gunther

We get some hype for the Punk-Rhodes match at SummerSlam before heading backstage, where Aldis talks to Sami who is on a mental health break after losing the title on Monday. This is interrupted by Gunther, whose voice is briefly cut off before we catch him talking to Aldis that he could “stooge” Aldis out over the match made for SummerSlam, but he won’t. He tells Nick to “fix this” before walking off.

In-Ring: Jimmy Uso, Jacob Fatu, Royce Keys

We head to ringside, where Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu call out Solo Sikoa…only for Royce Keys to come out instead. Jimmy says you don’t look like Solo, and Royce says he’s out here because the past couple weeks he’s been saying Royce’s name. He addresses the “family business” Jimmy and Jacob have, how that business is affecting everyone here and it’s starting to affect him.

Jimmy says they’re here on OTC business, and Keys says oh, the OTC that isn’t even here. This riles up Fatu, who says Royce can say anything about anyone else but leave the OTC out of this, please. Jimmy says this doesn’t concern Royce as he isn’t a part of the family, but Keys insists that blood don’t make you family…loyalty does.

He talks about the history has with Jacob Fatu and how he’s the closest thing he has to family these days. Jimmy tells Royce he better not cross the line with the family, but Royce tells him he just did. Jimmy says he doesn’t want to take on the two of them, they’ll beat him up…only for Fatu to cut him off, saying there’s no “we” here, this is all on you. Fatu leaves the ring and Jimmy tries to blindside Keys…who stops him, sending Jimmy to the outside as we go to commercial.

Jimmy Uso vs. Royce Keys

After a look back at the red carpet premiere for Moana (2026) we head back to ringside to get our next match underway!

Royce gets the advantage early on, and despite Jimmy fighting back Keys lifts him up for a delayed vertical suplex and a nearfall. Jimmy leaves the ring as Royce follows, only to be sent into the steps by Jimmy who brings Keys back into the ring for a splash and a nearfall. Jimmy with a chinlock as Royce fights back to his feet, only to take a kick from Jimmy…and responds with a cross body from the ropes!

Jimmy sends Keys through the ropes to the outside, following up with a dive and then sending Royce over the announce table as we go to commercial.

Both men are in the ring again and Keys has regained control…something Jimmy isn’t thrilled with as he slides out of the ring. Royce quickly follows him out, driving him onto the announce table. He gets back in the ring to break the count before picking Jimmy back up…but the Uso fights out and sends him into the ring post instead!

He sends Royce back into the ring and the ref checks on Keys as Jimmy backs up to the barricade…where Solo awaits! He threatens him with the Solo Spike before Jacob comes out to make the save.

He gets into it with Sikoa as Jimmy gets back in the ring…and Keys gets distracted by what’s going on outside, allowing Jimmy to connect with a spear for the win!

Winner: Jimmy Uso via Pinfall.

The attention turns to Fatu attacking Solo in the ring after the match, running Sikoa verbally after before heading out of the ring with Jimmy.

Video: Sami Zayn

We take a look back to what Sami said about Punk after losing the title on Monday, before heading backstage.

Backstage: CM Punk, Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, Finn Balor

Punk addresses what Sami said as well as looking forward to the new challenges that will come his way. Candice LeRae interrupts, talking about how Sami holding the title meant there was hope for people like Johnny Gargano. Punk takes a look at Johnny still laying on a road case and says he hopes Johnny Wrestling is listening. He wants to see Johnny and LaRae get back to what they do best, because whatever this is…isn’t working.

Video: Fatal Influence

Chime presents a vignette on Fatal Influence, who look to take down Brie Bella and Paige at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Thanks, Chime!

Alexa Bliss vs. Jade Cargill

We head to ringside as Alexa Bliss makes her entrance alongside Charlotte Flair. Up next, Bliss takes on Jade Cargill! …

Back at ringside, we await the arrival of Jade Cargill to the ring to get our next match underway!

Jade seems more focused on running down Flair at ringside than anything, and this allows Bliss to get the early advantage for a nearfall. It doesn’t take long for Jade to take control, slamming Bliss down hard to the mat as we go to commercial.

Back in the ring, Alexa dodges a charge from Cargill before sending her to the canvas for a two count. Jade fights to her feet, sending Bliss into the corner with a Beale throw. Bliss goes for a cross body but gets caught in midair…but she twists around looking for Sister Abigail! No! Jade breaks free, only to be sent to the ropes by Bliss. B-Fab goes after Bliss as Flair hangs Jade up on the top rope. She gets rolled up by Alexa for two, as Fab and Michin attack Charlotte Flair.

Back in the ring, Jade turns things around with Jaded, dropping Bliss to the mat for the pin and the win.

Winner: Jade Cargill via Pinfall.

Jade and her friends aren’t done though, as they grab a chair from ringside and attack the arm of Bliss after the match. Jade bends the arm back further and further with the chair wrapped around it…before slamming it down to the mat! There’s a nasty but very clever visual of Alexa’s arm bent out of shape as officials check on her.

Backstage: Trick Williams, Lil Yachty

Backstage, Trick Williams looks for his title before Lil Yachty appears, revealing a limited edition “legacy title” with white fur to match Trick’s jacket. He asks Trick to put a diamond beating on Hayes tonight, something Williams agrees to as SmackDown continues on.

Backstage: Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair

We take a look back at what happened with Jade and Bliss.

Carmelo Hayes vs. Trick Williams

Hayes takes the fight to the champ early, only to be sent to the corner twice by Trick. Williams knocks him to the mat with a shoulder tackle followed by some Whoop That stomps in the corner as we see Ricky Saints watching backstage.

Hayes takes control with a dropkick and a forearm off the ropes, sending Trick to the outside before going to the ropes…before Williams cuts him off with a flapjack of sorts followed by a Trick Slap, laying Hayes out as we go to commercial.

We come back from break just as Hayes takes the champ to the mat with a Dirty Diana, but only gets a two count for his effort. Williams fights back as he takes Hayes down not once but twice, picking up a nearfall in the process.

He sends Melo to the corner, but is taken off his feet with a DDT by Hayes who gets a close two count. He brings Trick to his feet before going to the ropes, but Williams fights him off for a neckbreaker and a nearfall.

Hayes turns things around, driving the champ down hard as he gets another nearfall while Saints watches on backstage. Hayes goes for First 48 but gets blocked, and that leads to both men trading nearfalls.

Hayes takes Williams down with a kick before going up top, but Williams dodges it and lands a spinning boot for the cover…but Hayes kicks out at two! The fight spills to the outside, where Hayes shoves the champ into Yachty. Trick looks to bring Hayes back into the ring but takes a First 48! Hayes goes up top for Melo Don’t Miss…and gets grabbed by Baron Corbin, who pulls him to the apron as the ref calls for the bell!

Winner: None.

Crowd are losing their minds as Corbin lays out Hayes…but he isn’t finished as he takes out Williams and Yachty with End of Days as well! He leaves the ring, grabbing the United States Title to express his intentions before dropping it beside Williams, the crowd chanting “holy s–t” as Corbin retreats up the ramp.

Backstage: Gunther

Backstage, we see Gunther walking as we find out that he will be looking for an answer from Nick Aldis up next.

In-Ring: Gunther, Nick Aldis

We head to ringside as Gunther makes his entrance, heading straight down the ramp to the ring where he gets a microphone to tell Nick to get out here to give him an answer. Out comes Aldis, who tells Gunther he’s giving him everything he wants. Gunther wants Cody Rhodes? He’s getting Cody Rhodes. Gunther wants CM Punk? He’s getting CM Punk. He’s getting them at the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, next weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event…when Cody and Punk team up to face Gunther and a man who similarly wants to get his hands on those two, Sami Zayn.

Gunther tells Aldis he can still fix his mistake, but the GM insists there is no mistake as the main event of SummerSlam remains the same as Cody Rhodes challenges CM Punk. Gunther is not having ANY of that as he blindsides Aldis, cinching in a sleeper hold on the GM before officials come rushing out to intervene.

The end credits start rolling as Gunther begins to back off…only to put another sleeper on Nick, taking him all the way to the mat in the process! Cody Rhodes makes his way out for the save, getting as far as taking his jacket off before heading down the ramp…and the show comes to a close, Monday Nitro style.
