In a recent interview with Tokyo Sports, Japanese Puro legend Satoru Sayama, the original Tiger Mask, gave his thoughts about how his treatment has greatly helped him with his battle with Parkinson’s disease. Sayama stated “I’m feeling great. I feel like I’m gradually getting back to normal. Before, I couldn’t show my emotions, but now I can. I can walk again, and I used the Tiger Step [at Tiger Mask IV’s retirement show], and I thought that he might do it too, but he didn’t, and just looked surprised and blank. But the audience loved it, so next time I’ll aim for a somersault kick [he joked]. I feel really good. I couldn’t talk this much before, and I’ve been making great progress with martial arts theory at home, my mind is clearer, and I feel like everything has come back.“
As noted before, Callum Newman had been out of action for NJPW since this past June’s Dominion 2026 event due to a shoulder injury. Newman made his in-ring return at the July 11th NJPW G1 Climax 2026 event in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. In a recent interview with NJPW’s official NJPW1972 website, Newman gave his thoughts about the cause of his injury. Newman stated “Slight dislocation of the shoulder, rear delt damage, tricep damage, a bone bruise, and some internal bleeding on the joint that needed draining. So (Yota) Tsuji took my title, but he had to do me in pretty good to take it.” Newman continued, “As he threw me (into the corner for a suplex), my tricep hit the rope and it went across from me. I felt the back of my shoulder pop out, and then as my arm came back into position, it popped back in. So there were two pops, and then I was stupid enough to keep going.”
In a recent interview with the Busted Open Radio podcast, former WWE and AEW wrestler Jake Hager gave his thoughts about if he took offense to the online reactions to his Power Slap loss against Amanpreet Singh, former TNA wrestler Mahabali Shera, at the July 10th Power Slap event. Hager stated ““Not at all. I knew ahead of this, going into this that it was knockout or get knocked out and that getting knocked out was gonna generate just as much as getting a knockout. Now of course that’s not the result I wanted but still, when you have a name like mine, and going into a sport like Power Slap, it is an advantage and I will use it.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
