Rey Mysterio Comments on Future of His In-Ring Career & Retirement Plans

A recent episode of the What’s Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon podcast featured WWE Hall of Famer and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Mysterio’s thoughts about the future of his in-ring wrestling career and retirement timeline plans.

“Most recently, I have been battling with, is it getting close to my time to retire? I certainly don’t feel like I am. Like, my body is saying, ‘Okay, now it’s time,’ and I always like to listen to my body.

I am enjoying the position of being AAA GM and seeing young rising stars come up in the game. But at the end of the day, it’s like, man, I really enjoy what I do on every level. Obviously, I enjoy wrestling a lot more than being behind the cameras. But I do understand that opportunities are very little, and there’s others that are going to come before me right now because it’s time to give the spotlight to other superstars, especially in the lucha libre world. So I am okay with that

I think as far as tapping out, never say never, but it can just pop up one day, just out of nowhere, and say, ‘Okay, now it’s time.”

Charlotte Flair Comments on She Should Be In WWE’s Main Event Scene & Marketed Like A Champion

A recent episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast featured Charlotte Flair as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Flair’s thoughts about her current run in WWE and her belief that she should be presented and marketed like a champion.

“Do I agree that I should be a main attraction? Yes. Do I think that I should be looked at and marketed like that champion that you’re thinking? Yes.”

Flair also gave her thoughts about how her being in the tag team with Alexa Bliss has been leading to a bigger picture for her.

“But I think being in this tag, whether it’s slow or not for some of my fans, I think there is a bigger picture, and that I’m going to keep working towards, keep fighting for that. So, in me being able to be comedic with Lexi or in the tag or working with so many different characters, and I don’t want to say underdog, but I’m kind of like, am I kind of like an underdog right now? A little bit.

“But I think it’s just showing that vulnerability and showing that, like, hey, I don’t need to have a main… Like, I’m interesting. And I think people just got, like, how do you relate to being great? But they just didn’t realize, like, what it took and the sacrifice to, like, hey, I’m a character, but I was actually really good at being bad, and it was almost too good at being bad.”

Flair also gave her thoughts about how the past year has been the best and most versatile of her WWE career.

“That I always, or that I need to keep showing up, because I do. I wake up in the morning and go, ‘I’m the greatest.’ Yes. But I don’t rest on just people like you saying it.

Like, I really want to feel and embody what it means to be the greatest and showing up, and that’s still evolving because I truly believe this was, like, the best year of my career, and I’ve never been more versatile. So I’m like, if I can do that in a year that everyone had kind of, I felt, written me off, imagine what I can do in five years.”

Brock Rechsteiner’s Potential WWE Career Future Update

As noted before, Brock Rechsteiner, son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner, is believed to have been signed to a WWE NIL deal since January of 2025. Rechsteiner was drafted by the New Orleans Saints at this past April’s 2026 NFL Draft event but he is currently suspended for the first six games of the 2026 season due to him recently violating the NFL-NFLPA’s performance-enhancing substances policy. WWE has been interested in Rechsteiner potentially joining their company once his NFL career is done.

Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that Rechsteiner was likely considered as a “long shot” to make the Saints final 53-man roster for this upcoming season even before his suspension. Meltzer speculated that Rechsteiner will likely not make the team and get cut due to the six-game suspension and his status as an undrafted player not helping out his odds.

Meltzer also speculated that Rechsteiner will likely be WWE bound within a couple of months.

Meltzer also brought up the similarities of Bron Breakker also pursing a NFL career at first and was at the Baltimore Ravens training camp before not making the team and being cut leading to him going to WWE right afterwards for a career in pro wrestling.
